A PalmerSport instructor needs to be so much more than a prodigious talent behind the wheel. They have to go through a strict training programme and then pass a rigorous test before our Chief Instructor will let them sit next to our guests.

They must show not simply that they can drive incredibly quickly, without making the smallest error, but also and just as importantly, that they have the necessary communication and social skills to ensure our guests feel comfortable and happy behind the wheel, giving them both the confidence and the inspiration to push themselves harder than they ever have before. They must know when a guest has reached the limit of their ability and when others prefer simply to drive gently. Perhaps that's why of all the applications we receive from around the world from racing drivers who want to become a PalmerSport instructor, fewer than 10 percent ever make it as far as meeting our customers.
